Week 1 Check In
Yesterday marked 1 week for our little Groodle babies who are growing so quick!
Overall each of them have done remarkably well and some of the smaller pups born are catching the others and even overtaking them with their weight. We have decided to continue to weigh every day for the next week just to be sure they are all receiving what they need. We figure it’s too easy to get lost when there are so many siblings to contend with.
We can already see that some of their eyes look like they may start opening in the coming days so that will be exciting and I expect that by our 2 week check in that all will have their eyes open. Their coats are really starting to show a bit of a wave in them now too which is super cute. Some are more prominent than others but it’s still to early to tell exactly what they will be. But I think we will have a mix of fleece and wool types. And their markings are just beautiful. A few have little white patches on their heads, some have white socks and some have white bellies. And when they lay on their backs they already have a gorgeous teddy bear look to them.
Nova is doing so well and every day we are seeing her really get comfortable in this new Mum role. She is struggling to eat all the meals needed to create all this milk for her babies but she is being totally spoilt with all her favourites like eggs, cheese, sardines, raw meats, cooked mashed pumpkin and sweet potato to name a few. She is currently eating 5-6 meals a day but always struggles with the sixth.
She also continues to bring her soft toys to them in the whelping box and her ball. I know she cannot wait until they are ready to play! But for now she is ok with cleaning, feeding and fussing over them, it is very sweet to watch.
